HFY TO HOST SUNY YOUTH SPORTS TRAINING

Hearts for Youth has been in touch with the SUNY Youth Sports Institute to set up the 2nd annual coaching/volunteer training on a Saturday morning in March. The Institute’s program, Youth Sports NY, trains non-school youth coaches, parent volunteers, and youth sport administrators and board members with know-how and techniques of coaching.

Executive board members of HFY recognize that coaches and volunteers play a critical role in youth development. Youth Sports NY’s nine-module, three-hour course is a comprehensive lecture that is written to address key youth development issues. Participants will receive the SUNY pamphlet, “Parent’s Guide to Youth Sports” once all coaches are certified. This year, a CPR course will be added after the training session which will allow participants to receive State of NY (SUNY) Level 2 Certification and Insurance.

The cost of the training is $20.00 per person. Hearts for Youth will sponsor up to fifteen of their coaches and/or volunteers. Any other interested persons may attend by signing up with HFY and paying the fee. To express interest in attending or to get more details, contact the HFY office at 482-9971 Ext 2130.
